Keeping in view the state-sponsored terrorism in Jammu Kashmir, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Thursdayappealed the pro-India politicians and activists to resign and join people in the freedom movement.

In a statement issued to press, Shah said the present situation in the State is a testing time for pro-India politicians and activists who should resign from government offices and assemblies to join the people’s caravan.

In his message to pro-India elements of the State, Shah said those killed by government forces are “your own people and part of the society you belong to”.

“This is a testing time for Omar Abdullah and his likes whether he will act responsibly by siding with people or be part of forces that unleash brutalities over the people. If conspiracies are being hatched to root out Kashmiris through killings and other oppressive measures and you people are feeling helpless, better is to resign,” he said.

“If assembly members continue to maintain silence over the grave situation in Kashmir, the nation will never forgive them,” Shah added.

In his message to the youth, Shabir Ahmad Shah said: “You are the assets of this nation and are duty-bound to play a responsible role in taking forward the freedom movement.”

The DFP chairman castigated the “military government” over carrying out nocturnal crackdowns and arrests while asserting that people have to remain steadfast and counter such suppressive measures.

The pro-freedom leader strongly condemned the beating to death of a lecturer Shabir Ahmad Monga in Khrew, Pulwama. “The so-called puppet administration has imposed night curfew so as to carry out nocturnal raids and suppress each and every voice raised against the state-sponsored terrorism,” he said, adding, “Mehbooba Mufti by turning the State into a virtually jail has taken over the charge of a martial law administrator.”

He slammed the international community over its silence over the happenings in Jammu Kashmir.

Shah also hailed the people of Pir Panchal, Chenab Valley, Doda, Kishtwar, Banihal, Udhampur, Rajouri, and other regions of the State for expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir Valley.
