Protests continue in Kashmir against Kathua rape & murder case

Protests continued at many places in Kashmir valley on Tuesday against the rape and brutal murder of an 8-year-old girl in Jammu’s Kathua region.
Scores of traders hit the streets at Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the summer capital, Srinagar and took out a protest rally, demanding justice for the Kathua girl.
Holding placards, which read, ‘Hang the culprits till death’, ‘Give justice to Kathua girl’, besides other slogans, the protesting traders raised slogans against people trying shield the culprits and communalize the rape and murder of the minor girl.
Similar, peaceful protests were also held by the students of various educational institutes, including Kashmir University (KU), S P College on M A Road and Government Higher Secondary School Nadihal on Tuesday.
However, security forces burst teargas shells to disperse students of Degree College Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, protesting against the rape and brutal murder.
Meanwhile, eight accused arrested in the case were produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua on Monday.
