Pulwama local injured in hit-and-run case succumbs to injuries

The family of Muhammad Afzal Waghay, a local milkman held a protest at Srinagar press enclave, demanding justice to the family.
The family said Waghay was hit by a running vehicle on July22 adding the driver of the vehicle has not been arrested yet.
As per the family Waghay Goripora, Awantipora for last 19 days Waghay has been in coma at SHMS hospital who died on Thursday.
The family members and relatives soon after Waghay brought dead body to press enclave to protest against the delay in the identification of drivr.
“From last 19 days we have been demanding the identification of driver but police is doing nothing. He was the sole bread earner of his family and has recently lost one child. Police is doing least to arrest the driver to deliver justice to the family, ”Waghay’s brother-in-law Basheer Ahmad said.
He said the family had to spend huge sum on the treatment. “I sold my one kanal land to ensure his treatment. Had the police arrested the driver we would have asked for the compensation to save our Afzal, ” Ahmad said.
The relatives said that the Waghay is survived by his wife and a son for whom they demand compensated.
“Police has assured the family to arrest the accused driver but now the life has been already lost. How much more time we shall wait now? His family will have to starve now,” another protesting family member said.
Meanwhile police said that they have registered a case of murder under Section 304 Crpc.
Meanwhile a police official said that the vehicle, which hit Waghay was a commercial one purchased by multiple buyers.
“We got the footage from the army who caught the incident on camera. It was basically a commercial Maruti car. We went to many of its buyers so far and investigation revealed that the accused belonged to Nehru Park. He is absconding now and will be arrested after he returns to the valley,” he said.
