Pulwama observes shutdown for 2nd day

Strike continued for the second day today in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, where two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants, including a top commander were killed in night-long encounter with security forces in Tral.
A constable of Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police Manzoor Ahmad, a resident of URI Baramulla in north Kashmir, also lost his life while five other soldiers, including a Major were injured in the encounter.
Shops and business establishments in Tral and adjoining areas remained closed and traffic was also off the roads due to spontaneous strike. Work in government offices and educational institutions were also affected.
Partial strike was observed in Pulwama and some other parts in the district.
However, life returned to normal in Bijbehara and Shopian with all shops and business establishments doing normal business and work in government offices and educational institutions also resumed normally.
