A day after Congress Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party alleged a security lapse, Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed on Saturday from Awantipora area of south Kashmir Pulwama district amid tight security arrangements.
The roadshow resumed from the Chersoo area of Awantipora today morning with former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, her daughter Iltija Mufti and mother joining the Yatra at Awantipora.
Rahul Gandhi’s sister and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi along with other Congress leaders joined the Yatra near Lethpora.
Yatra ended at Pantha Chowk truck yard and will resume tomorrow from the same spot.
Officials said tight security arrangements have been put in place to ensure hassle free movement of the Yatra. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said they were happy with the arrangements.
On Friday Rahul Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders alleged a security lapse in Qazigund area, the claim denied by the Police.
Meanwhile, (AICC) launched the theme song of Bharat Jodo Yatra (BJY) in Kashmiri language in Srinagar.
The theme song of the Yatra in Kashmiri language was launched during a press conference at PCC headquarters in Srinagar.
Congress General Secretary Incharge Communication Jairam Ramesh said the theme song has been launched in nine languages so far.
