A local social organization and NGO Ehsaas International distributed ration kits among hundreds of needy families across several parts of the Valley on Tuesday.
“In the ongoing holy month of Ramzan, a team of volunteers from Ehsaas International on Tuesday visited Mehjoor Nagar, Habak, Alamgari Bazar, and other parts of the city and distributed Ramzan rations kits containing rice, flour, edible oil, pulses, salt, tea and other essentials among the needy families,” PRO Ehsaas International Syed Amjad said.
He said that similar work was also carried out by the volunteers in Zalpora village of Sumbal and several villages of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Amjad said that it was the routine work of Ehsaas International to distribute ration kits among the needy families in the sacred month of Ramzan. “The aim of this goodwill gesture was to enable families to save some money and have better nourishment as well,” he said.
Chairman, Ehsaas International, Tabasum Geelani, said that the organisation would not have reached the poorest of the poor to assist them without the sincere efforts and dedicated work of the donors and the volunteers.
“We are grateful to them for their relentless efforts,” Geelani said.
Meanwhile, the families have praised Ehsaas for coming forward with help in the month of Ramzan and other important occasions.
“Ehsaas International has been regularly helping us from 2014. Every year, they bring supplies of ration and medicines for the underprivileged families of this village,” Aliya, a resident of Zalpora said.
Syed Ejaz, another resident, said that Ehsaas International understands the feelings of poor villagers and turns up with the help on special occasions like Ramzan. “The timely help by Ehsaas in the form of ration kits has been overwhelmingly welcomed by the villagers,” he said.
