Ready for dialogue with Pak, but ‘terror & talks can’t go hand-in-hand’: Rajnath

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said that India is ready for holding dialogue with Pakistan, but added that ‘terror and talks can’t go hand-in-hand’.
The Union Home Minister, who was on a day-long visit to the state to review the security situation, said the centre will continue to strive till the time situation improves in the valley.
“We are ready to hold dialogue with anyone. But, the only condition we have is that Pakistan should assure us that they will not harbor and promote terrorism in India,” Mr Singh told reporters during a press conference.
“Terror and dialogue can never go together,” he added.
Talking about the ‘initiatives’ taken by the BJP-led NDA government to improve relationship with Pakistan, he said India has in the past also tried to initiate dialogue with the neighbouring country.
“Our Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) broke all the protocols and went to Pakistan and met with the Prime Minister (Nawaz Sharif) and his family. That was done only to improve relationship with our neighbouring country,” he said.
However, he said there was no constructive approach from them (Pakistan).
Answering a question that ‘why muscle-power is being used instead of dialogue to improve situation in the valley’, the Union Home Minister reiterated that the centre was ready to hold dialogue with anyone who wants to talk.
