Lawaypora, Narbal, residents shifted the local dispensary into nearly complete Trauma hospital to stop possible entry of security forces in the hospital building, who were called in heavy numbers after the abrogation of Article 370 on 5th of August.
The foundation stone for the hospital was laid during National Conference (NC) led government and hospital building was almost completed in Mehbooba Mufti’s chief ministerial tenure, but after the PDP, BJP alliance broke and Governor Sataya Pal Malik taking over the reins of the government.
Locals of the area on Wednesday shifted the local dispensary to the hospital building, with an aim to stop any attempt of the security forces to occupy the building.
Prior to this, locals at least at two occasions stopped the security forces to enter into the hospital building and to occupy it, by impressing upon the officers about the importance of the hospital and its purpose in the larger interest of people.
A local Javed Ahmed, while complaining about indifference of the Governor administration towards providing infrastructure to the hospital said, “The Hospital building was completed when Mehbooba was in power, but once her government fell administration forgot to provide infrastructure or to appoint the staff here, despite the building being almost complete.”
“Now, instead of throwing the facility open, attempts are to house security forces into it”, he added.
The locals said that the hospital, if thrown open will cater to the people from as far as Baramulla, Sopore, Narbal, Magam Beeru and Tangmarg areas.
They demanded from government to make the hospital functional immediately, which they said is waiting for infrastructure and staff only, to be kept in place.
They appealed the governor to take steps in this regard, so that thousands of locals and those living in adjacent areas are benefitted. (CNS)
