Retirement of Naheed Neelofer

December 02, 2020 | Rayees Ahmad Kumar

" Like the waves make towards the pebbled shore ,
So do our minutes hasten to their end "
This couplet is from Sonnet 14 written by William Shakespeare . It was during the year 2003 when I read this beautiful poem for the first time. In this poem Shakespeare in a unique way describes the journey of time and the changes/ effects which are associated with the passage of time in every living beings life. He gives the example of sun, which rises in the east during mornings with a mood different from what it has during noon and during sunset in the evenings.
In the similar manner he has penned some couplets in this just fourteen lined poem, describing the changes which occur in every human beings life from time to time. During infancy and in childhood the innocent nature of human being has different aspirations, in his youthful days he is full of vigour, vitality and guts and in the old age he looses his strength, power and hope. In brief he shows how the passage of time and the indelible marks associated with time can't be halted or reversed.
Retirement of a person from routine government service marks an important phase in one's life. His /her aspirations, demands and needs abruptly see a change when he/she retires from his/ her services. It is both a challenge as well as a blessing. If you are wise enough and know the value of time, you can enjoy your post retirement days by engaging yourself in different activities which can further develop your personality. Reading good books, writing, doing prosocial deeds, visiting your relationships occasionally and helping people in distress not only fetch you peace of mind but also relieve you from the tensions associated with post retirement. Retirement of a person proves a challenge and a curse only when he /she doesn't know how to use and enjoy the post retirement days.
Yesterday Department of Education district Ganderbal , accorded warm send off to retiring Chief Education officer Ganderbal, Naheed Neelofar on attaining the age of superannuation.
In a simple but impressive function which was organized at Cheif Education Office Ganderbal to bid farewell to Naheed Neelofar, Nazir Ahmad Wani Deputy Chief Education Officer Ganderbal lauded the role and services of Naheed Neelofar who retired from government service after rendering four decades of dedicated services in the department.
In her service career, Naheed Neelofar served on various posts i.e. Lecturer, Principal, Principal DIET Ganderbal, Srinagar and Chief Education Officer Ganderbal.
The other officers and officials of the department also lauded the contribution of retiring official and wished her a successful and healthy post retirement life. A gift was also given to the retiree as a token of love.
Dedication, humbleness and nobility of the retiring Madam can be judged from the fact that all the four educational zones of Ganderbal District arranged separate retirement functions in favour of their dearest officer. Kangan zone held a function weeks before in her honour at Naranag the world famous historical and tourist resort. Zone Hariganwan also conducted the similar function amid the beautiful meadows of Margund valley. Similarly Ganderbal and Tullumulla educational zones didn't lag behind in honouring their favourite officer. During Naheed's tenure Ganderbal District attained many hights in education sector. Every teaching and non teaching official of the district is lauding the role and services of madam ji.
Last year I too got an opportunity to meet her with some issue. She without wasting a second directed her subordinate officials to mitigate my grievance at an earliest. Whenever officials of varied ranks used to visit her office , she apart from redressing the issues listened them patiently. Both in Academics and in administrative affairs , Naheed Neelofer proved herself an iron lady. After Mir Sonaullah , Naheed Neelofer's tenure will always be remembered by the fellow officials for her best administrative skills. It is worth to label her tenure as CEO Ganderbal a golden tenure. For an efficient work culture in the department, officers like Naheed Neelofer need to be encouraged and promoted to yield the excellent results.
May almighty Allah give you the strength to overcome post retirement challenges and may you live, a long, prosperous and dignified post retirement life. Madam, I wish you all the best.
