Authorities said five members of a family were killed on Thursday when their car rammed into a stationary goods truck in Jammu and Kashmir.
A senior police officer said the accident took place at Swanda Morh-Gagwal in Samba district, about 45 km south-east of Jammu city, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
"In a tragic road accident today, five members of a family were killed after a vehicle carrying them rammed into a goods truck parked alongside the road," a police official posted in police control room Jammu said.
"The car was coming from Amritsar (Punjab) and heading toward Jammu."

"Rescue operation was launched by the police with the help of locals immediately," the police official said.
"But all the victims on arrival at a medical facility were declared brought dead by doctors."
