Sarita Chauhan takes stock of facilities at quarantine centres in Kathua

Urges admin to maintain list of quarantine people for ensuring best facilities for children and pregnant women

Commissioner Secretary Forest, Ecology and Environment, Sarita Chauhan chaired a meeting to review the facilities being provided to the inmates at administrative quarantine centres here today.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kathua, OP Bhagat; Additional Deputy Commissioner Atul Gupta; ACR Kathua Davinder Paul; DFO Kathua Rahul Singh; Nodal Officer Quarantine Centre, Dr Ajay Sudan; Nodal Officer, Suninderjeet Kaur other officers of various departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary laid thrust on maintaining proper cleanliness in the quarantine centres and making adequate provision of toilets and bathrooms for inmates to minimise the chances of spread of infection.
She called for increasing cleaning points to discourage crowding and personal dustbin for inmates to encourage personal hygiene.
She also exhorted upon the Nodal Officers to maintain proper list of quarantine people and ensure best facilities for children and pregnant women.
The Commissioner Secretary also called for opting individual centric activities for the inmates and strict observance of social distancing at all times.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua OP Bhagat informed the meeting that Kathua district has so far housed 20,858 evacuees/returnees in 139 quarantine centres established across the district.
He disclosed that 15,267 people have been sent to their homes after successful completion of their quarantine stay in the district and another 5,591 inmates are still staying put in different quarantine facilities in the district.
The district has also readied five COVID-19 Wellness Centres with intake capacity of 750 persons, Bhagat added.
On the occasion, DC also gave PowerPoint presentation of arrangements and amenities being provided to the inmates that include hygienic food, sanitation and fumigation, mobile laundry, bedding & lodging, medical facilities, recreational activities, transport and regular interactions with inmates besides security arrangements.
Bhagat also informed that robust arrangements are put in place to make the stay of inmates in quarantine centres with proper care in good hygienic and sanitized environment.
He said innovative concept of ‘Mobile Laundary’ was devised by district administration catering the needs of washing bed sheets, pillow covers, blankets of the inmates on regular interval at respective quarantine centres.
The administration is also running two dedicated women quarantine centres where sanitary napkins, night suits and bathroom sleepers are also being provided to the inmates.
Later, Commissioner Secretary visited quarantine centres at BRG Palace and Surya College of Education and inspected the facilities made available in these centres. She also interacted with the inmates of quarantine centres and enquired about their well-being and facilities being provided to them.
