Separatists, unionists, Army extend Eid greetings

The mainstream political parties as well as the separatist leaders Tuesday extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In her message, chief minister Mehbooba Mufti reminded people about the essence of festival, especially remembering the poor and needy and sharing happiness with them.
“It was a distressing day for the whole Muslim Ummah as their holiest place Madina Munawarah was attacked by a suicide bomber last night triggering outrage and agony throughout the Islamic world,” an official spokesperson, quoting Mehbooba, said this afternoon.
The chief minister said the spirit behind observance of Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan, is to express our gratitude to the Almighty Allah for giving us courage to observe fasts and rededicate ourselves to truthfulness, sincerity, self-control, patience and piety, thus showing complete obedience to Allah.
National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Working President Mr. Omar Abdullah also greeted people and the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Praying for peace and prosperity in the State, Dr. Farooq Abdullah in his message said “The spirit behind the observance of Eid-ul-Fitr is to express our thanks to Almighty Allah for giving us the courage to observe fasting in the month of Ramzan and rededicate ourselves to the path of truthfulness, sincerity, self-control, patience and human dignity”.
Eid greeting were also extended to the people by the Hurriyat leaders as well as other separatist groups in Kashmir Valley.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen DS Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command also extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and all Indian Army personnel and their families. Gen Hooda said the joyous celebrations of Id-ul-Fitr marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan bring with it unity, happiness and a feeling of brotherhood.
