The night of absolution or Shab-e-Baraat was observed across Kashmir as well as the sub-continent with religious fervour on Sunday night.
A large congregation was also held at Chrari Sharief shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (RA) where thousands of devotees observed nigh long vigil and prayed for their forgiveness.
Govt apathy was largely seen when devotees who thronged the premises of the shrine of Sufi saint Sheikh ul Alam faced lot of problems. Traffic police was missing and massive traffic jams created inconvenience to the devotees.
Meanwhile, the largest congregation in Kashmir was held at the historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar where thousands of men and women prayed seeking forgiveness for their sins.
The congregation was addressed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who shed light on the importance of Shab-e-Barat. During his sermon, Mirwaiz urged people to follow the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his guidelines for a fruitful life as laid down in the Holy Quran.
Mirwaiz in his speech emphasized the importance of seeking forgiveness for sins from the Almighty Allah. He also led special Touba Istegfaar majlis on the occasion.
The participants during the night long prayers with moist eyes sought forgiveness from Almighty Allah. Mirwaiz also prayed for the betterment of Kashmiri people and offered special Fateh prayers for those who passed away since past one year in particular and those who died during past 28 years of conflict in Kashmir in general.
