Shift Synthetic Atheltic track from Bandipora Stadium to Alterantive Place: Usman Majid tells Governor Malik

August 03, 2019 | SPORTS DESK/BANDIPORA

Senior Congrese Leader and Former MoS Planning Usman Majid here on today urged Governor Adminstration to reconsider the decision of constructing synthetic athletic track at Sports Stadium Bandipora.
In a statement, Majid urged Governor Satypal Malik led adminstration to Shift Synthetic Atheltic track from Bandipora Stadium to Alterantive Place. He said that, It is totally unfair to convert sports stadium Bandipora into Synthetic atheltic track for athletes, adding that it is our home for cricket and football.
He said that Inaugration of Synthetic atheltic track at Bandipora Stadium by Advisor is although a welcome step, however it is expected to affect the most-played games like cricket & football. Youth in particular are up in arms over this initiative, he said. The move about making synthetic track will hinder the sports activities in the place as cricket & football are two main games people love & play here. I am totally against this decision, Majid said.
He said that, I think people at the helm should have made ground-level research before finalising this project. This plan will affect the normal activities and the sports which are currently their on high demand. This stadium is only standard palyfield in our district and making it an Athletic-specialised Stadium would stop the other rest of sports activities, he added. He urged Governor Administration to reconsider its decision and shift this to alternate place.
