SHRC asks victim families of 2010 unrest to appear before commission
Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission Wednesday asked the victim families of 2010 uprising to appear before the Commission with any type of submission and representation.
Secretary Jammu Kashmir State Human Rights Commission through a general notice has asked the Kith and Kin of 2010 uprising victims to appear before the Commission with representation/submission if they choose to do so on any working day except Saturday andSunday.
More than 120 have fallen to the bullets of government forces in 2010 when Kashmir witnessed mass protests against Indian rule.
Meanwhile, Retired Justice M.L.Koulsaid that he will submit a detailed report about the 2010 killings at the end of the current month. Justice Koul had been appointed to head a one man commission to probe into the killings of civilians in 2010. “The report is almost complete. We have almost probed every killing. By the end of this month we are going to submit the written report before the government,” Koul said.
Responding to a question, Koul said that everything will become clear once he submits the report.
Pertinently, the then State Government led by Omar Abdullah in June 2014 had approved appointment of a one-man judicial commission led by Justice(retd) M L Koul to probe the killing of over 120 civilians during unrest in the Valley in 2010. (CNS)
