January 05, 2020 | UNI

Members of the Sikh community led by Manjinder Singh Sirsa, President Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, on Saturday held a massive protest outside the Pakistan High Commission here against vandalism at the revered Nankana Sahib Gurdwara, the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev ji in Pakistan.
Raising slogans against Pakistan Prime Minister and his government over vandalism at Nankana Sahib Gurdwara on Friday, the protesters requested the international community to put pressure on the neighbouring country for taking immediate steps to ensure the safety and security of the Sikh community, visiting pilgrims who regularly visit the holy shrine and Sikh families residing in Pakistan.
The community members also submitted a memorandum at the Pakistan High Commission asking its government to explain the failure of law enforcing agencies back there.
The protesters told the Pakistan government that the Sikh community will take direct action against the elements responsible for desecration of holy Sikh shrine if immediate action is not against the perpetrators of violence and vandalism.
Addressing the protesters, Mr Manjinder Singh Sirsa and National Spokesperson of Shiromani Akali Dal said that they have submitted memorandum to Pakistan High Commission asking the Pakistan government to explain the failure of its law enforcing agencies.
They demanded strong action against the rowdy elements which are working at behest of Pakistan ISI.
The memorandum submitted to the commission said that this incident has happened at a place where a demand has been made to convert a holy Sikh religious place into a mosque.
The memorandum said that the community is ready to make supreme sacrifice to uphold the sanctity of the holy place which is revered by millions of people of all faiths and religion worldwide .
Sikhs have always fought against atrocities of Mughal rulers and history will repeat itself if Pakistan failed to act in this case. The memorandum questioned the silence of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on this issue concerning millions of people worldwide.
Imran, who is otherwise hyper social media activist and reacts on every issue, is maintaining a deafening silence on this issue, it said.
