Awareness programme on promoting entrepreneurship opportunities in forestry and allied sectors was conducted by the Division of Social & Basic Sciences, Faculty of Forestry for empowering individuals, especially girls who have discontinued their studies.
The programmehighlighted the potential in forestry-based enterprises such as nursery technology, sustainable logging practices, eco-tourism, and wildlife conservation opens up avenues for sustainable livelihoods in rural communities. Dr Naseem Geelani, Head Deptt of Basic Sciences emphasised women-centric programs particularly apiculture, mushroom culture and value addition. The creation of a Self Help Group(SHG) and the dissemination of information about PM Vishwakarma scheme of MSME was also discussed. Support and Patronage from Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Director, Planning and Monitoring, and Dean Faculty of Forestry, as well as the sponsoring agency, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Govt. of India was thankfully acknowledged.
Overall feed back was that all, these initiatives reflect a holistic approach towards fostering entrepreneurship and socio-economic development in rural areas, contributing positively to the empowerment and upliftment of communities.
