Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) secured an overall third position among more than 10 participating institutions in Sports events held at the “Goonj 2024” hosted by the University of Jammu on 19th-20thMarch, 2024. SMVDU women football team stood first in the sports event whereas the volleyball men team won the third position. The event saw university teams participating in football, volleyball, basketball, kho-kho and kabaddi. The other sports teams of university also displayed appreciable performance in the tournament. The teams were accompanied by the Sports coaches of the university Mr. Sumit Sharma and Mr. Balbir Singh. Deputy registrar, student welfare was also a member of the participating contingent. Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU congratulated the winning teams for bringing laurels to the university. Vice chancellor appreciated the efforts of the Sports Wing headed by Dr. Parvez Singh Slathia and encouraged to participate in such events for showcasing the talent of university students.
