Under the ongoing Kashmir Sports Festival at Islamia College today in the 2nd match of this inter college cricket tournament which was played between Gandhi Memorial College Srinagar and GDC Sopore. After winning the toss Gandhi College Captain invited Sopore College to bat first. With Zubair's 45 in 26 balls and Lateef's 28 in 29 balls Sopore scored 126 runs in 20 Overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Asif Jeelani took 4 and Simmon 2 wickets for Gandhi College. Chasing a target of 127 runs Gandhi College lost too many early wickets and despite Asif's 41 patient runs lost the match by 14 runs. For Sopore College Tanvir took 3 and Owais 2 wickets. Zubair of Sopore College was adjudged the Man of the match.
Prof. Shamim Ahmed Shamim Convenor Sport Islamia College gave away the award in the end.
The tournament was inaugurated by Prof. Shiekh Aijaz Bashir Principal Islamia College on Monday with the match between Host College and GDC Kangan which was won by Islamia College by 7 wickets. The tournament which is sponsored by J&K Higher Education Department is organised by the Department of Physical Education of Islamia College Srinagar. On 13th Feb. 2020 GDC Handwara will play against GDC Sumbal.
