Sports facilities in JK kept on standby to tackle Covid-19 pandemic: Advisor Khan

April 10, 2020 | BK Sports Desk/Jammu

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan today said that in case the need arises, sports infrastructure under Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) would be kept on the standby for turning them into COVID-19 facilities.
Sharing the details, Advisor Khan said that at a time when the world is grappling with the crisis of Coronavirus pandemic, it was essential for all the front line departments and other line departments to work in close coordination and work in containing the deadly virus.
The Advisor informed that all the sports infrastructure under the administrative control of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council would be kept at the disposal of the government and Department of Health and Medical Education and the concerned Deputy Commissioners can avail the facilities when the need arises.
“The world's sports stadiums are being converted into hospitals to fight the coronavirus outbreak,” he said. “We will give our best to fight the virus. Together we can achieve the goals,” he said.
Advisor Khan said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the sports world has stepped up with countless acts of kindness. “Across the world, we are seeing how sports stars are coming forward to help their governments in fighting this virus outbreak,” he said.
He said that it has been noticed that during past disasters, emergency organizers have utilized sports facilities for relief. “We have Indoor and Outdoor sports facilities —which have the capacity of over 10000 people and I think in times of crisis, these facilities can come handy for the administration.”
