Strong tremors felt in Delhi, NCR after 5.8 Richter scale quake hits U’khand

Strong tremors were witnessed tonight in Delhi and National Capital Region after an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale was recorded in Rudraprayag area in Uttarakhand.
”Earthquake of mag 5.8 today at 22:33:08 HRS(IST). Epicentre at 30.5?N,79.1?E (Depth:33 Km) in Rudraprayag,Uttarakhand,”Union Minister of Science and Technology said in a tweet.
The tremors, which lasted for nearly 30 seconds, led people in several parts of Delhi rushing out of their homes in panic.
A Home ministry spokesperson said Home minister Rajnath Singh has asked for a detailed report on the earthquake. He said the NDRF has been put on high alert.
A strong tremor was witnessed tonight in Delhi and parts of National Capital Region after an earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale.
Tremors which occurred at around 1035 hrs lasted around 30 seconds that led residents of the Capital region rushing out of their home in panic.
Weather officials said tremors were due to the effect of a quake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale which occurred in Pithoragarh area of Uttarakhand.
