Sun shines after 3 days , weather to turn dry from wednsday

After witnessing chilly weather conditions due to intermittent rain and snow during the last three days, sunshine greeted people on Tuesday in the summer capital, Srinagar and other past of Kashmir valley though icy winds continued.
A Met department spokesperson told UNI that light rain and thundershower would occur at isolated placed during the next 24 hours in the valley under the influence of a Western Disturbance (WD), which has lost its strength. “The weather will turn dry from Wednesday onwards. It would result in improvement in the maximum temperature,” he added.
After witnessing slightly above normal night temperature in Srinagar, people woke upto a chilly Tuesday morning due to overcast conditions. However, as the day progressed sun came out from behind the cloudy, bringing some from chilly weather conditions though icy cold winds continued.
He said the maximum temperature recorded on Monday was about 9 degree below normal while the minimum temperature was slightly above normal in the summer capital. “Skies will be partly cloudy and light rain could occur during the next 24 hours at some places in Srinagar, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 20 degree and 10 degree, respectively.
Weather also improved in world famous ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir. Bright sunshine greeted Gulmarg later in the afternoon though the ski resort remained deserted since August 2, when Governor administration issued an advisory asking tourists to leave the state immediately. The state administration has however lifted the advisory and tourists could come to the valley from October 10.
After witnessing intermittent rain in the plains and snowfall in the upper reaches, the maximum temperature improved in the afternoon in the world famous health resort of Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir.
The upper reaches in the health resort, including Sheshnag and the peripheral areas of Amarnath holy cave shrine, received first snowfall of the season on Saturday night.
