A doctor was allegedly beaten up by miscreants inside the hospital in Tangdar area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The victim doctor has been identified as Dr Bashir who is posted at Sub-District Hospital Dildar Tanghdar as Surgeon Specialist.
The incident sparked protest from hospital fraternity while Doctors Association Kashmir condemned it in strong words.
Sources sdaid that at least six persons from Dilgar village thrashed the doctor when he was proceeding to look after the Covid-19 positive patient in village Bhatpora and Dildar.
Block Medical Officer Tangdar in this regard shot a letter to Sub-Divisional Magistrate Karnah seeking action against the culprits.
Doctors and Para-medical staff of Sub-District Hospital Tanghdar observed a pen down strike, however emergency services ran as usual.
The doctors have threatened to stop the emergency services as well if action is not initiated against the culprits.
Expressing outrage, President DAK Kupwara said this brute act of hooliganism against doctor is unacceptable.
“Dr Bashir was beaten up by few goons when he was discharging his duties to attend Covid patients under home quarantine in red Zone area.”
DAK appealed authorities to immediately book the culprits behind the attack and take stringent action against the goons. (KNT)
