To fight boredom, people fish on Dal banks

With no end in the ongoing uncertainty in Kashmir, people remain busy in fishing most part of the day on the banks of famous Dal Lake to defeat boredom and the level of stress that the past two months have given to them.
The people of the valley are now spending most of their day time while fishing while some are learning this skill to avoid boredom.
As the prevailing uncertainty entered in the third consecutive month, hampering all the activities in the region has pushed people of the region to master their skills of fishing at various places in Kashmir.
Rouf Ahmad Khan a resident of Srinagar said: “I never learnt this skill before but now because of the ongoing situation in valley I have spent most of my time in learning this.”
He said that, he often gets bored by being confined to four walls at home and now fishing is the best thing that he can do at present. He further added,” In present situation most of the Kashmiris are trying out different things to get rid from the stress and dullness.”
Another local Asim Rashid from Srinagar said that, “As the fishing demands time and patience which is high nowadays among the people of valley because of the ongoing uneasy calm which has tightened its grip on Kashmir.”
He said that he loves to spend his time in fishing as it helps him to forget things for a while, that have affected his business in Kashmir. He further added, “Apart from spending our valuable time like this, what else could we do in the current circumstances when our business is completely shut because of the ongoing cellular communication and internet gag since Aug 5.”
