To grab property share, orphan girl faces 'harassment' by siblings in Hawal, Zadibal

August 12, 2020 | BK News Service

Bullied by her own siblings, an orphan girl from Hawal, Zadibal area in old Srinagar Tuesday appealed the Jammu and Kashmir police to take cognizance of her written complaint and act against the accused in consonance with law and justice.

Nahida (name changed) alleged that her own siblings, including her two elder sisters, their husbands and her elder brother surpassed all the limits of ‘hardheartedness’ to allegedly grab her share from the property.
She said that her elder sisters, who are government employees along with their husbands, started to live at their parental home at Hawal, Zaidbal after the death of her mother in the year 2018.
Nahida said the harassment meted out to her by her own siblings has left her in dire straits as no one, even police wishes to help her come out the situation she has been facing since the death of her mother two years ago.
“I appeal the police to kindly take cognizance of my complaint I had filed against my two sisters, their spouses and my elder brother for harassing me day in and day out. My request to police is to stop extending undue favor to the accused who threatens me with my life,” Nahida said.
She said her sisters and brother with due support of police used to beat her and even drag her out of her parental home without any provocation, cause or justification.
“I filed a complaint at the concerned police station on August 9, but the police want to paint the matter with property dispute as the issue is of sheer harassment and bullying. I fail to understand as to why police extend help to the people with an authoritative approach and suppress the poor,” questioned Nahida.
She said being an orphan and yet unmarried, her siblings want her to leave parental house out of pressure and harassment. Nahida said in case the police fail to act against accused, she would be forced to commit suicide and the police shall be held accountable for any misadventure.
