Traffic advisory issued for Tulip Garden visitors

April 15, 2024 | BK News Service

With the recent reopening of Asia’s largest Tulip Garden on March 23 and the subsequent visitor increase following Eid-ul-Fitr, the Srinagar Traffic Police have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory to manage the expected congestion and facilitate smoother vehicle movement.
SSP Traffic of Srinagar, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, highlighted the implementation of specific traffic regulations, particularly the enforcement of one-way traffic routes on holidays. “Due to the significant number of tourists and local residents visiting the Tulip Garden and surrounding areas, we are introducing measures to ensure that traffic flow is maintained and congestion minimized,” SSP Shah explained.
Key Directions from the Traffic Advisory:
Route to Tulip Garden: Visitors heading to Tulip Garden are to take the Lal Chowk-Dalgate-Boulevard/Gupkar Road route.
Return Route: On returning, visitors should use the Nishat-Foreshore-Habak-Dargah-Khanyar route to get back to their destinations.
Alternate Routes: Motorists from Harwan-Shalimar-Nishat regions going towards Lal Chowk are advised to use the Foreshore-Hazratbal route instead of the Nishat-Boulevard road axis.
East Srinagar Route: Those traveling from Gulab Bagh, Zakoora, Naseembagh, and Habbak areas towards Lal Chowk should opt for the 90 feet road and Ali Jan route rather than Foreshore Road.
In addition to routing guidelines, the advisory also mandates that all vehicles must be parked in designated areas only. Available parking locations include the front of the Botanical Garden, open land at Karpora, and LCMA Parking at Nishat. Vehicles found parked inappropriately along the roadside will be subject to towing.
The advisory also notes that in cases of emergency, vehicles may take the shortest possible route to their destinations. The one-way traffic regulations are set to be in effect from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily to manage the flow efficiently.
These measures aim to provide a hassle-free experience for both tourists visiting the scenic Tulip Garden and residents of the area during this peak tourist season. Visitors and motorists are urged to comply with the advisory to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.
