Traffic police Srinagar to seize vehicles with unpaid challans

The traffic police in Srinagar will seize vehicles with unpaid challan in accordance with Rule 167 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, which states that the police can seize a vehicle that has any pending traffic violation challan which is more than 90 days old.
Officials have said that the traffic police will first issue a notice to the vehicle owner to pay the challan. If the challan is not paid within 30 days, the police can seize the vehicle. The vehicle will be released only after the challan is paid and a fine of Rs. 500 is deposited.
The traffic police in Srinagar have been cracking down on vehicles with unpaid challans. In the past few months, they have seized hundreds of vehicles. The traffic police have said that they will continue to seize vehicles with unpaid challans in order to deter people from violating traffic rules.
They have said that if people have a pending traffic challan in Srinagar, you should pay it as soon as possible to avoid having your vehicle seized.
