Transferring of forest land : Forest deptt employees hold protest against district administration Shopian

The forest officials of district Shopian continued their second protest against District Administration for allegedly facilitating transferring of forest land.
Reportedly the District Administration Shopian has passed an order in which they directed forest department to transfer 20 kannal land to tourism department and 14 kanals to a local.
While talking with Brighter Kashmir, Nazir ahmad Mir said that, “Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department will never ever leave a single inch of land. Even if it costs our lives we will never ever allow implementation of the orders passed by District Administration.”
“The district administration has passed an order to transfer the 20 and 14 kanals of land,” he said.
Mir asked the district administration to revoke the order, failing which he said that the department will hold state wised protests.
Reportedly t least twenty kanals of forest land located at Shopian, has been illegally transferred to Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department, sources said.
Sources said that District Commissioner Shopian has allotted this land.
“These 20 kanals of forests land which have been illegally allotted to JK tourism department on the orders and directions of District Commisionar Shopian. This has been done without the proper consent of state forestry department,” sources said.
Earlier Ranger officer Shopian, Mohammad Shafi Shah said that the department had tried with all possible efforts to save the land. “But all in vain. When forest department tried to demolish the structure erected by Gulam di Cheechi, JK police of Heer Pora polictacted DFO Shopian, Manzoor Ahmad, said, “We have informed higher authorities about it but higher authorities have not taken any proper action so far.”
Minister Of State for Forest cology and Environment Zahoor Ahmad Mir had also said, “ I will discuss this issue with concerned Forest officer and law will take its own course as per supreme court orders. No person is above the law and no one can breach any provision of forest act 1997.”e station, came on the spot under the direction of Deputy commisionar Shopian and arrested forest officials including forest ranger.”
