Says bootlegger arrested in Kulgam
Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Tancbagh Pampore intercepted a vehicle Alto bearing registration number JK01H-8095 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Jahangir Ahmad Shairgojri son of Lal Mohd Shairgojri and Javaid Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Nabi Mir both residents of Sharshali Khrew. During checking, officers were able to recover 03kgs of Poppy Straw from their possession.
They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 165/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
Meanwhile, police said that acting tough against the social crimes, Police in Kulgam arrested a bootlegger and recovered 45 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.
During the intervening night of 30/31 December, Police party of Police Station Qazigund established a special checkpoint at NHW near Dalwach crossing after specific information regarding transportation of illicit Liquor was received by Kulgam Police and a suspicious vehicle (Truck) bearing registration Number JK22-9533 was intercepted.
During checking, officers were able to recover 45 bottles of illicit Liquor from the vehicle driven by Parvaiz Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Subhan Dar resident of Muniwara Wanpoh.
He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 292/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
