‘Illegal filling in the area of Rakh-i-Arth in Bay 04A was removed onspot’
Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) Tuesday launched demolition drive was launched by in Saidakadal and Ranger Stop in Srinagar.
LAWDA said that one under construction structure near bridge, one single storey at Saidakadal and plinth for shops and raised in the green belt area were demolished onspot.
“The violators have taking the advantage of current lockdown (Covid-19) were indulged in raising these illegal constructions which were onspot demolished by the demolition team of this wing,” LAWDA said.
LAWDA said that also legal action warranted under rules was initiated against the violators.
“The demolition team was accompanied by the security provided by PCR Sgr and Ladies contingent who were of great help during the demolition drive due to which the demolition was successful,” LAWDA said.
It said that the illegal filling in the area of Rakh-i-Arth in Bay 04A was removed onspot.
However, opposite Bay 08 there was a stiff resistance from the assembled crowd and as such the encroachment could not be removed fully.
It said that through its Enforcement Wing, the demolition drive was carried out under the supervision of Enforcement Officer namely Abdul Aziz Qadri.
