Authorities on Tuesday handed over the mortal remains of a person recovered from across the border from river Jhelum. The remains are of the person who alongside two others drowned whilst demolition of a bridge in Mohura Uri last month.
Official sources said that the mortal remains of the person, who had gone missing after falling into the river on March 03, 2024, were recovered by the authorities on the other side of the border.
“After establishing the contact and ascertaining the identity of the body, the family of Shakeel Ahmed Mir, son of Saadullah Mir, a resident of Gundzona Rashipora Kupwara was called in to receive the mortal remains,” they said.
Among the two other victims included Bilal Ahmed son of Abdul Ahad, a resident of Arizal Budgam and Mohammad Aslam Chowan son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Chauhan, a resident of Gujjar Nar Chaharpora Shangus Anantnag – bodies of whom were recovered and handed over to the respective families soon after the incident
