The residents of Nowshera area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Tuesday held a protest against the water scarcity in their area and blocked the traffic for many hours.

The residents (mostly ladies) of Nowshera area of the city, assembled at the main road and staged a massive protest demonstration against the Jal-Shakti department for not providing the locality adequate water supply, resulting into the halt-age of the traffic for some time.
One of the protesters said that they are facing acute water shortage for almost two years and the concerned department has completely failed to address their issues.
"I called the concerned officials several times, once a team of Jal-Shakti visited the area but since then they don't bother to answer our calls. We have been forced to come on roads, “She said.
They appealed to the Administration to look into their genuine problems and redress them as soon as possible.
