We Have to Rise Again!

October 14, 2019 | Dr. Shahid Amin Trali

During this testing time people were expected to behave truly caring and rational towards us but it is not the reality. It seems that the connection with our Kashmir valley to most of the people outside is based more on emotions rather than truth, logic and rationality. It seems that the people component of the valley is always being ignored. We have seen so many fake promises over the past three decades. A common man has always been the sufferer. Our own Hindu brethren who are an integral part of our valley had left us before thirty years in 1990’s but no one till date bothered about their safe return to the valley. The people of Kashmir have always shown love and are ready to heart welcome their Hindu brethren to their own land.
The Jammu & Kashmir people are always great and loveable and so are the people in other parts of India. Every state and country has a right to preserve its status and identity although being a part of a bigger and integrated system. It’s not and has never been a Hindu Muslim fight in our valley. We have huge respect and love for our Hindu friends and command same love and respect from them. I owe a lot to my beloved Hindu teachers who have transformed me into a better person in life. We love and admire people equally from other religions and castes in and outside the valley.
The situation is still far from normal in our paradise valley. It seems our paradise is burning and everyone is enjoying the reality show. One must understand the pain of a person who doesn’t have money and food to feed his family. There are many poor families who don’t have resources and are now under the constant threat of survival. Our students have lost their touch in studies. A common man is the sufferer who is locked inside a room and left at the mercy of God.
We have to sense our greater responsibilities. There is no room left for us to be just a mute spectator. But we can’t bear any more violence on our beloved land. Let’s support our true leaders in their good intentions so they get a moral boost. But those who are corrupt must not be spared at all. Let’s believe in our real leaders and give them a chance to prove themselves. When we are greedy at our own levels how can we expect them to be our saviors? It’s a big time to introspect and be united for a good cause. That good cause should be towards the peace and development for our state.
The world ahead is going to suffer big in terms of shortage of food and water, acute un-employment and shortage of resources etc. The humans likely will take the routes of violence and anger if the basic needs are threatened. A greater unity and care is needed to challenge such critical issues first and work for our better future in our state. A strong leadership is the need of the time. This is truly a big testing time for us. But this tough time shall be over soon and there will be a more promising time ahead. Our collective conscience is highly needed. Our leaders have a big role in the transformation of our society. We have a part to play in instilling good values and care for our future generations. Each and every member of our beloved valley has to be contributive and be knowledgeable, innovative, honest and sincere. We have to rise again and bring back the lost glory of our paradise valley.
