We will give opportunity to talented people: Sufi singer Richa Sharma

“After visiting Kashmir, felt like I was in mother’s lap”

Ace Sufi singer Richa Sharma said her team would provide a platform to all those people who have singing talent.
“It is not only about Kashmiris but anyone who has talent, we will give them opportunity,” Richa Sharma told Farooq Wani, Editor-in-Chief of Brighter Kashmir in an exclusive interview.

“I must also talk here about one of the raw talents of Kashmir. She is Sabeena Katroo. She is a wonderful actor. I look forward to her and hope she gets better with time,” the singer said.
She further said that staying in Houseboat (Best View Resort Group of Houseboats in golden area of the world famous Dal Lake was my excellent experience which will remain in my memories till life time., hospitality was marvelous no words to express my gratitude to those who attended me .
Talking about the Sufi music of Kashmir, she said that her team is trying to work out various learning processes.
“We are thinking of getting along with the local artists of Kashmir. The whole idea of these interactions is to learn and unlearn between them and us. We want to surely learn something from them so that we can give something new to the music,” the singer said during the interview.
She said that mostly people living outside Kashmir are afraid of visiting Kashmir.
“People are afraid of coming to Kashmir. However, personally I felt very safe in Kashmir. Visiting Kashmir is like a child is safe in her/his mother's lap. I went through the same feelings,” the singer said.
While praising Nitishwar Kumar, principal secretary to lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha, the singer said that she was impressed by government official’s talent.
“When I heard that Nitishwar ji had written the song that we were working on in Kashmir, I was surprised because I thought, ‘how can a government employee, who is having such a serious job, would have an in- depth knowledge of music’,” she said.
“He is really talented,” the singer said.
She also said that people from other parts of India and the world should come and visit Kashmir, “Not only Bollywood people but those people who don’t know Kashmir should come and visit this heaven,” the singer said during the interview.
