Weather turns pleasant due to overcast conditions in Kashmir

After recording above normal maximum temperature last week, weather turned pleasant today due to overcast conditions much to the delight of the people in Kashmir valley.

A Met department spokesperson told UNI that light rain or thundershowers would occur at few places during the next 24 hours in Kashmir. Meanwhile, majority of the places witnessed further improvement in the night temperature. However, Gulmarg, about 55 km from here, witnessed a marginal dip in the night temperature. Against 7.4 degrees recorded yesterday in Gulmarg, the night temperature was 7 degrees. People woke up to a sunny morning in Srinagar.

The night temperature witnessed further improvement of 2 degree from yesterday and settled at 13.2 degrees. The spokesman said sky will be partly cloudy in Srinagar, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 27 degrees and 12 degrees respectively.

The night temperature at Qazigund, gateway to Kashmir Valley, Kupwara in north Kashmir and tourist resort of Kukernag also surged and settled at 11.4 degrees, 11.3 degrees and 11.6 degrees, respectively.

The mercury at world famous health resort of Pahalgam also improved and settled at 7.7 degrees, against 7.2 degrees recorded yesterday. The spokesperson said sky will be partly cloudy in Leh, where maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 20 degrees and 9 degrees, respectively.
