Woman critically injured in bear attack in north Kashmir

A wild bear attacked and critically wounded a woman in the north Kashmir district of Kupwara, official sources said here today.
They said a bear entered village Monbal, Handwara, in Kupwara from nearby forests. However, before the villagers could do anything, the bear attacked and critically wounded a woman. The wild animal later escaped back into the forest.
The injured was rushed to local hospital from where she was referred to Srinagar in a critical condition. The man-animal conflict has recorded increase during the past few years because of human interference in the woods.
