From President Pranab Mukherjee to Prime Minster Narrander Modi, India has been upbeat for celebrating the International Yoga Day. The President urged people to make yoga an integral part of life as it promotes better health and brings harmony. Mukherjee was leading about 1,000 people at a yoga event at Rashtrapati Bhavan to mark the second International Yoga Day. The President is reported to have said that yoga provides mental and physical strength to people. Yoga will enable them to live a healthy life. It will create overall harmony between body and mind. It will enhance mental and physical well-being. While as on the other hand, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to embrace yoga for better physical and mental health. There are many experts believers, urging people to make yoga a part of the life. They kept saying that just as the mobile phone is now a part of human life, yoga too should be made part of one’s life. Yoga is not only a way to get rid of a disease but it also guarantees wellness and for a holistic development, yoga is a great way. I think we don’t need to see the Yoga from a religious prism but from a meditation point of view or from purely making it a habit of exercise, one achieves the goals. Some of the well learned persons believe that with the help of yoga, diabetes can be controlled. Can we start a public campaign to suggest measures in yoga to the common man suffering from diabetes? It will be an achievement if we can help in treating diabetes. From next year, we can take another disease. We should address any one disease every year. We should run a public campaign with an aim to address one disease. No doubt yoga is a great “ancient powerful technique.” “Yoga brings several kinds of benefits. It’s a great ancient powerful technique Yoga in essence is the integration of body, mind and intellect with the self, individual with the family, the family with the society, society with the nation and the nation with the whole creation. The importance of Yoga in overall development of human persona is vital. Yoga’s benefits of this traditional form of exercise and meditation have been highlighted since times immemorial and we should all collectively ensure its propagation as well as promotion. The concept of doing yoga is prevalent in our society since ancient times and its benefits have also been highlighted by national and international scholars, which have also resulted in it being adopted by many western countries and Asiatic Nations. He said that the utility of exercise and meditation for the overall well being of mental and physical health has also been recognized by every religion. The onus of propagating this health friendly concept should be on every individual so that the younger generation gets attracted to this, which would result in their mental and physical development.
