The Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat has said that the Kashmir youth are vital for peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Tuesday.
Kashmiri youth are the “flag-bearers of the future of Kashmir and it is imperative that they play their own vital part in ensuing a brighter future of the Valley,” Rawat said while interacting with 120 youth from north Kashmir’s Baramulla on Monday.
The youth hailing from different parts of Baramulla district are on a Confidence Building Tour to Delhi being organised by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion of Himalayan Brigade under the aegis of Dagger Division, an Army spokesman said in a statement.
“The tour was flagged off from Baramulla on 31 May 2019 and the Kashmiri youth attended SPIC MACAY International convention from 03-09 Jun 2019 at JNU, New Delhi,” the statement said.
“It was for the first time that such a large group of young boys interacted with the COAS General Bipin Rawat. The youth were upbeat about coming face to face with the Chief of the Army Staff, whom they had seen only on electronic media,” it said.
“The youth were immediately put at ease by the General, who shared his vision about peace and development of Kashmir with the young stakeholders during the informal interaction. During the interaction, the General listened to the views of the youth and told them that they were the flag-bearers of the future of Kashmir and it is imperative that they play their own vital part in ensuing a brighter future of the Valley,” it said.
“Youth of Kashmir shared their experience of SPIC MACAY convention and the visit of the various historical places in Delhi with the Army Chief. The interaction and the tour to the capital of our country will have an ever lasting impact on the youth,” it added.
