Known by his pen name “𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙙𝙖,” he is a celebrated poet, author, academician, and healthcare professional. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗮’𝘀 life and works exemplify an extraordinary blend of dedication to both literary excellence and the noble profession of medicine. Residing in Kharbrari (Gazi Abad), Tehsil Yaripora, District Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗮 has become a revered figure, respected equally for his cultural contributions and his unwavering service to humanity.
𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗮 was born into a family steeped in literary tradition. His father, the 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗵𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗳𝗶𝗾, was a renowned scholar, translator of the 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗤𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻, and the author of five books. An intellectual giant, 𝗚𝗵𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗳𝗶𝗾 received the prestigious Best Book Award in 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟬 from the 𝗝&𝗞 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝘁, 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 for his magnum opus, "𝗜𝗥𝗙𝗔𝗡𝗜 𝗪𝗔𝗝𝗢𝗢𝗗". Growing up under the guidance of such an illustrious parent, young Shaida was introduced to a world of profound ideas, creative thought, and spiritual exploration.
The Bhat household frequently hosted eminent literary stalwarts such as 𝗚𝗵𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗺 𝗡𝗮𝗯𝗶 𝗡𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗿, 𝗔𝘆𝘂𝗯 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗿, 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗟𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶, 𝗚𝗵𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗯 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗶. These gatherings, filled with poetry recitations and intellectual discussions, became an informal academy for young Shaida. Listening to these luminaries enriched his worldview and ignited his passion for literature. Poetry and prose became not just artistic expressions but a way to connect with his inner self and the world around him.
𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗱𝗮’𝘀 formal education began at 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶, where his first teacher, 𝗔𝘆𝘂𝗯 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗿, left an indelible mark on his academic foundation. He later completed his matriculation at 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗴𝗮𝗺. The 1990s, a period of political upheaval in Kashmir, forced many, including Dr. Shaida, to pursue higher education outside the region. This displacement, however, turned into an opportunity for growth and exploration.
Dr. Shaida enrolled in the 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘆 (𝗕𝗨𝗠𝗦) program at 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗽𝘂𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆. His years at 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗮 𝗧𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱 in 𝗨𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵 were transformative. Immersed in an Islamic ethos and surrounded by the Urdu language, his literary instincts flourished. He began composing poetry with renewed vigor, winning accolades such as first place in a Ghazal competition and composing the anthem for 𝙆𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙢𝙞𝙧 𝙏𝙞𝙗𝙗𝙞𝙮𝙖 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚.. These achievements underscored his ability to seamlessly merge his academic pursuits with his literary passion.
Currently, Dr. Shaida serves as a 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗛𝗢𝗗) of Advia at Kashmir Tibbiya College Hospital and Research Center, Taleem Abad, Shilvat, Sumbal Bandipora. His career in medicine is marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep sense of responsibility. As an academician, he has mentored countless students, instilling in them the values of diligence and service. His work in medicine, however, has never overshadowed his literary pursuits. Instead, the two have complemented each other, reflecting his holistic approach to life.
The turning point in Dr. Shaida’s literary journey came with the demise of his father in 2013. The loss left a profound void, yet it also became a source of inspiration. Determined to carry forward his father’s legacy, he embraced poetry as a mission rather than mere artistic indulgence. Through his verses, he sought to fulfill his father’s unfulfilled dreams, channeling his grief into a relentless pursuit of creative expression.
بہ دگ للواں دِلچ ما چاک گژھہا
اگر چانین پدین ہنز خاک گژھہا
امی انمانہ کرہَے میوٗٹھ قدمن

His debut book, "𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗞𝗮𝗹", is a testament to his versatility as a poet. This collection of Kashmiri poetry spans various forms, including Ghazals, Nazms, Rubaiyat, free verse, Na’at, and Munajat, as well as humorous and satirical compositions. Launched in August 2021 at Government Degree College, Anantnag, the book received widespread acclaim. Literary luminaries such as 𝗥𝗮𝗳𝗶𝗾 𝗥𝗮𝗮𝘇, 𝗥𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿, 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗵𝗻𝗮𝘇 𝗥𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗱, 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝗱𝗮, 𝗔𝘆𝘂𝗯 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗿, and 𝗜𝘇𝗵𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝘂𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿 contributed forewords and commendations, further validating the book’s significance.
Dr. Shaida’s unpublished works reveal his depth and range as a writer. These include a collection of satirical poetry, essays, fiction, and critiques. His writings reflect a keen observation of society, a sharp wit, and a commitment to originality. He is particularly drawn to exploring new rhymes and themes, aspiring to carve a unique niche in the realm of humorous poetry.
In his literary journey, Dr. Shaida credits much of his success to his mentor, 𝗚𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗯 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗳𝗶 of Kishtwar. A renowned poet from the Chenab Valley, Saifi provided invaluable guidance, helping Dr. Shaida hone his craft and deepen his understanding of poetic techniques and traditions. This mentorship played a crucial role in shaping his literary identity, enabling him to navigate the complexities of poetic expression with confidence and finesse.
Dr. Shaida’s involvement in the literary community extends far beyond writing. As an active member of "𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗭 𝗔𝗗𝗕𝗜 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗠", a prominent literary organization, he serves as its Media Secretary. He is also the patron of the "𝗞𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗥𝗔𝗙𝗜𝗤 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗘" under the same organization. His roles involve not only administrative responsibilities but also active participation in organizing literary events and programs.
His skills as a host and anchor have been widely recognized. He has hosted numerous programs and events for 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗭 𝗔𝗗𝗕𝗜 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗔𝗠
and other organizations. Notably, he hosted the online international program "𝗠𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗤𝗔𝗧 𝗚𝗔𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗧", organized by the 𝗞𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗶𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗨𝗦𝗔, showcasing his ability to connect with diverse audiences across the globe.
