Golden opportunity for Kashmir youth to script their destiny

December 13, 2020 | BK News Service

The greatest wealth and strength of any nation is its youth. Empowered youth can prove to be an unstoppable force that drives a nation towards success and prosperity. However, the conflicts mixed with pace of life have stolen away the basic rights of youth. The right to dream, right to be guided, the right to self awareness, the right to develop self esteem, the right to belief in self and right to construct a destiny of his choice. Sensing this deficit in J&K, a group of right thinking people duly supported by organizations and institutions that pledged to help youth unconditionally came forward. Team Nirmaan consists of some highly qualified individuals who have come together with their individual strengths with aim of bringing about productive change.
Project Nirmaan was designed to steer the youth of the UT for designing a future for themselves and realizing it too. Generating interests and cultivating the idea of productive togetherness with harmony and bonhomie is the key to individual growth.
On 26th October 2020, Project Nirmaan officially launched the first phase of the extensive outreach program for the youth of Kashmir. The initiative was to undertake consecutive engagement with the youth for identification of their core competencies, grooming them and mapping their efforts with opportuni ties.
With Engage, Educate, Encourage, Excite and Expand at its core. Project Nirmaan had programs designed to work on each of these facts.

A photography contest judged by the famous photographers Akshay Rajput and Amit Rane has seen a thunderous response from the youth of the UT. It is now entering the second month with a new theme ‘Winter in Kashmir’.

E-learning courses specifically selected after a lot of research are being made available for deserving candidates on the Project Nirmaan website in the second half of December 2020. It is a scholarship program engineered to pick candidates on basis of an aptitude test. A career counsellor will also be made available to the students to help in making the right choices.

“Team Nirmaan strives to serve as an outreach for the youth of Kashmir to guide them in building character, taking ownership of pursuing their dreams and providing them the necessary tools. Keeping the youth motivated and high in spirit is one of the many things we wish to achieve along with bringing about a positive change in their lives.” is the statement given by Team Nirmaan.
One of the most exciting programs currently running on Project Nirmaan is the search for the Voice of Kashmir in collaboration with Shankar Mahadevan.
“I'm really excited about this collaboration between my Academy - the Shankar Mahadevan Academy and Project Nirmaan. Together we are bringing Voice of Kashmir - a musical talent hunt for the youth of the Kashmir valley. Kashmir has long inspired many poets and musicians and we hope this platform will provide the young singers and musicians of Kashmir a chance to display their potential. The winners will get a scholarship to learn music from my Academy!” Said Shankar Mahadevan.
Shankar Mahadevan Academy was founded in 2011 under the guidance and leadership of the award-winning composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan and his friend and technology edupreneur Sridhar Ranganath.

With it's non-profit arm, Shankar Mahadevan Academy has also launched various programs to bring music to the underprivileged, to senior citizens, started a choir of special needs children, brought rare archives of musical composition to life and created musical programs to raise social awareness.
Shankar Mahadevan Academy has till date over 28000 students from 81 countries and conducted over 2,00,000 virtual classes. The Academy oper- ates its classes 24/7.

J&K needs more and more selfless people to come forward and take on the challenges being faced by the youth. The manner in which large number of young minds are seeking the support of Nirmaan, indicates the true sense that prevails among them. The society owes to them and a great future awaits them.
