Pensioners raise concerns at J&K Bank

January 28, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Srinagar, Jan 28: Senior citizens and pensioners have raised serious concerns over alleged mismanagement at the Business Unit Brein Nishat of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, citing repeated issues at the passbook counter.

Customers claim that staff at the entry and passbook counter are not recording complete transaction details. Instead of listing full credit and debit particulars—such as monthly pension, arrears, gas subsidy, and other benefits—only the final balance is reportedly being entered.

Pensioners say this practice has caused confusion and distress, especially among the elderly who rely on passbooks as their primary financial record. Many are unable to verify whether pensions, arrears, or other entitlements have been correctly credited.

The issue was reportedly brought to the Branch Head’s attention nearly five months ago. Despite repeated complaints, no corrective action has been taken, reflecting, according to the pensioners, poor customer service and lack of accountability.

The aggrieved customers have appealed to higher authorities of J&K Bank to ensure proper supervision at counters and safeguard the interests of senior citizens and pensioners.
