
Imphal , June10: Under the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” initiative, Assam Rifles warmly welcomed the Yuva Sangam Phase-VI delegation from Telangana at the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles in Shillong on June 9, 2026.
The delegation, comprising students and faculty members from NIT Telangana and IIM Shillong, was received and interacted with by Brig Swarn Singh, VSM. During the engagement, he highlighted the rich heritage, distinguished legacy, and pivotal role of Assam Rifles in safeguarding national security and contributing to the socio-economic development of the North Eastern Region.
He also briefed the participants on the force’s operational responsibilities in sensitive border areas and its continuous efforts in maintaining peace and stability while supporting local communities through various outreach initiatives.
The visiting delegation was introduced to the ethos and traditions of Assam Rifles, with emphasis on its longstanding association with the region and its role in nation-building beyond its operational duties.
Students and faculty members actively participated in the interaction, raising questions and engaging in discussions that deepened their understanding of the force’s functioning and its contribution to national integration.
Officials said the programme aimed to foster greater awareness among youth about India’s diverse cultural and strategic landscape, while strengthening the spirit of unity in diversity.
