
Jiribam, , May 18: In view of the prevailing security situation in Manipur, the Commander of 21 Sector Assam Rifles along with the Commandant of Srikona Battalion visited Company Operating Base (COB) Borobekra in Jiribam district on May 17, 2026, to assess ground conditions and review operational preparedness.
During the visit, the senior officers interacted with troops deployed at the COB, appreciating their efforts in maintaining vigilance and stability in the sensitive area. They also assured continued institutional support to strengthen operational effectiveness and morale of the personnel.
The commanders held discussions with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and local representatives, focusing on the importance of peace, communal harmony, and collective cooperation to ensure long-term stability in the region. The engagement aimed at reinforcing trust between security forces and the local population.
As part of the visit, a detailed reconnaissance of the Area of Responsibility (AOR) was carried out, including strategic stretches along the Barak River and routes frequently used by drug trafficking networks. The inspection was aimed at enhancing surveillance mechanisms and curbing illegal activities in the region.
