DG EME visits Spear Corps, lauds troops and drone innovation

Imphal, Dec 1: Lt Gen Rajiv Kumar Sahni, AVSM, VSM, PhD, Director General of the Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME) and Colonel Commandant, visited the Spear Corps on November 30, 2025, to interact with troops and review operational and technical support activities.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sahni engaged with personnel across various units, appreciating their professionalism, technical expertise, and mission-oriented maintenance support that ensures the operational readiness of critical equipment in challenging border conditions. He highlighted the crucial role of EME personnel in sustaining high standards of performance and reliability in frontline deployments.
A significant part of the visit focused on the Drone Excellence Centre, where indigenous drone development and fabrication are being carried out. Lt Gen Sahni commended the team for their innovative work, emphasizing that such initiatives strengthen self-reliance and indigenisation in line with national priorities. He encouraged continued innovation, stressing that technological advancement is a force multiplier for operational efficiency.
The DG EME also interacted with soldiers to understand their challenges, welfare needs, and suggestions for improving maintenance systems and technical support. He urged them to maintain their commitment to excellence while fostering a culture of innovation and self-sufficiency.
The visit reinforced the importance of technical proficiency, innovation, and operational readiness, recognizing the Spear Corps as a critical component in ensuring the security and technological advancement of India’s armed forces.
