The Roads and Buildings department (R&B) has failed to repair the road between Habak- Batpora in Srinagar, causing immense difficulties to the commuters, who travel on daily basis on the route.
As per the locals, the road has developed potholes that have become prone to accidents in the area. The department has not repaired the road from past 2 years.
Farooq Ahmad, a local said that the road has developed potholes at dozens of places. “Despite repeated attempts to concerned officials to repair the road but things have unchanged on the ground,’ he said.
Ahmad said the road was revamped with gravel and dust last year but it lasted for only for 3 days and turned same like it was before.
“They just put the material and left it incomplete in a mid way. During the summers, road witnesses’ water logging due to water enters in the houses and adjacent shops,” he said.
Another resident Manzoor Ahmad Mir said road has not been repaired since past several years. Last year, some officials of R&B came here but left soon after putting randomly material,” he said.
The residents appealed Lieutenant Governor led administration and R&B authorities to repair the road as soon as possible, otherwise they would be compelled to hit the streets.
Chief Engineer R&B Department Sami Arif Yesvi said that they have already issued tender for the same, and the issue will be resolved as soon as possible. (JKNS)
