
The Vice-President of India, C. P. Radhakrishnan, today addressed the 21st Convocation Ceremony of the University of Kashmir in Srinagar, marking his first official visit to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in his current role.
Congratulating the graduating students, the Vice-President remarked that while universities are often celebrated for their infrastructure and academic excellence, their true legacy lies in the character and achievements of their alumni. He praised the University of Kashmir, established in 1948, for its distinguished legacy and expanding academic footprint.
Highlighting the institution’s accomplishments, he commended its NAAC A Grade and 34th rank in the NIRF University category. He also noted the University’s impressive research output—over 7,700 publications since 2019—and its pioneering initiatives such as the National Himalayan Ice-Core Laboratory, which underscore its growing global presence.
