Srinagar, Feb 10: : In a major step towards the successful conduct of the 10th National Snow Shoe Championships–2026, the Director Tourism, Kashmir today unveiled the championship souvenirs including the official T-shirts and medals, at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), Srinagar.

The national-level championship is being organised in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, and will be held at the renowned winter destination of Sonamarg from February 13 to February 16, 2026.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director Tourism underscored the significance of promoting winter sports in Jammu & Kashmir, reiterating the department’s commitment to developing Sonamarg as a premier hub for adventure and snow-based sporting activities. He noted that such events not only encourage sporting excellence but also play a vital role in boosting winter tourism and local livelihoods.
The unveiling ceremony marked an important milestone in the preparations for the championship, which is expected to witness participation from athletes and teams representing 13 states across the country, in addition to participants from the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The event was attended by Mr. Waseem Raja, Joint Director Tourism, Kashmir, Mr. Sheikh Enayat, Deputy Director Tourism, Recreation, Mr. Tariq Ahmad Ghani, President, J&K Snow Shoe Association, Mr. Arif Laigaroo, Vice President, JK Snowshoe Association along with officers from the Tourism Department and other stakeholders associated with the organisation of the championship.
The Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir has been working in close coordination with event organisers and local stakeholders to ensure robust arrangements, including infrastructure, logistics, and hospitality, for participants and visitors.
The 10th National Snow Shoe Championships–2026 is anticipated to be one of the major winter sporting highlights of the season, further strengthening Kashmir’s reputation as a leading destination for winter sports tourism.
