
, Feb 14: The Assembly was informed that 1,425 illegal structures, including 1,194 residential and 231 commercial, have been demolished across Jammu and Kashmir since the National Conference-led government assumed office in October 2024.
Srinagar recorded the highest number of demolitions (1,133), followed by Jammu (237). The demolitions were carried out under the J&K Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1988, and the Control of Building Operations (COBO) Act, 1988, with due process and prior verification from revenue authorities.
