19th Asian Games National Wushu Coaching camp underway at SKIS

2 Months Long National Wushu Coaching camp commenced at Sher-E Kashmir indoor Stadium from 6th June till 3rd August 2023 for the preparation of the Indian Wushu team for the forthcoming 19th Asian games in China and 16th World Wushu championship at USA. The Sports Authority of India sanctioned the National Wushu coaching camp at Srinagar on the recommendation of the Wushu President Sh. Bhupender Singh Bajwa during the ACTC Meeting held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Secretary (Sports) govt of India. During the Wushu chief apprised that J&K has better facility in shape of Infra and equipment’s and the J&K being the High altitude place will be very effective and benefical for the preparation of the Indian campers at Srinagar. The Meeting was attended by President, CEO,General Secretary and National Chief Coach of India.
The Secretary Sports Council Ms Nuzhal Gul appreciated Wushu Association of India and Sports Authority of India for taking J&K as the prestigious place for the National Coaching camp and we have raised good stadias,Outdoor and Indoor in each district which is of International standard and we are ready to host International events in the future.The Players will enoy the climatic conditions of the place as well as the Facilities available in the UT J&K.
The Wushu Association of India and the Wushu Association of J&K thanked Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor UT J&K Sh. Manoj Sinha Sh. Sarmad Hafeez-IAS (Secretary YSS) govt of UT J&K and Secretary J&K Sports Council MS Nuzhat Gul for raising the world class stadium in Srinagar and we are very satisfied with the facilities available at the venue during their current visit. As per the handout from the Association, the Secretary J&K Sports council provided all kinds of assistance for the grand success of the National Wushu coaching camp. Apt to mention here that recently JKSC procured wushu equipment’s and the same has been allotted for the NCC for the grand success of the Coaching camp.
The SAI sanctioned National Wushu coaching camp at Srinagar for 45 Campers including 7 Coaches and 2 Supporting Staff. There will be World Champion and previous Asian Games medalists seen practicing for the yellow metal in the Games and World championship. The campers are very happy with the facilites and the arrangements at the venue above all the climatic conditions for the training, which will be very beneficial for the campers in the events.. They said that Kashmir is the idle place for Coaching camp as the place is high altitude and very beneficial for the players.
The Final Selection for the National coaching camp will held at SKISC for the finalisation of the team for the submission of entry by name to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for further submission with organising committee of the 19th Asian Games and the final team will also go for Foreign exposure exposure training in China for 45 days. In second phase of the National Wushu coaching camp, the World championship campers will be added in the National coaching camp at Srinagar.Their selection will be based on the 32nd National Championship scheduled to be held in Pune from 26th June to 1st July 2023.
The team is headed by Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee (National Chief Coach of India) and Rajesh Kumar Tailor (Rajasthan) M Sachidananda (Manipur) Ravi Prakash Tripathi (NS NIS Patiala) Pooja Kadian World Champion (Haryana) Amit Pal (Services) Choabi Devi (Manipur) and supporting Staff. Sh. Kuldeep Handoo is the National Chief coach of India since 2010 and since then the ranking and placing of the Indian wushu team at International podium has seen tremendous changes and at present the Indian Wushu is ranking 3rd in the world.
General Secretary of Wushu Association of India Sh. Vijay Saraf congratulated the Selected campers for the National Wushu coaching camp in Srinagar for the 19th Asian Games , he thanked Secretary Sports Council for the Immense support and asserted that Wushu Association of India has taken the matter with Ministry and the SAI for finalisation of UT J&K as the permanent centre for wushu for the National Wushu coaching camp in future.
