
The 1st Kargil Badminton Championship 2025 concluded today with a colorful closing ceremony at the Badminton Hall, Baroo, Kargil. The event was organized by the Kargil Badminton Association and witnessed enthusiastic participation from across the district.
Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Abdul Hadi, Councillor LAHDC Kargil, was the Guest of Honour and Dr Niyaz Munshi District Sheep Husbandry Officer Kargil was the special guests.
Addressing the gathering, DC Kargil Rakesh Kumar appreciated the efforts of the Kargil Badminton Association for organizing the tournament for the first time in a professional manner. He highlighted that around 100 players from all over Kargil participated in both boys and girls categories, making the event a milestone in the district’s sports history. He further said that sports infrastructure is coming up at both district and block levels, and soon players will have adequate space to showcase their talent.
The DC also lauded the Association for felicitating International Taekwondo Players, Shahnaz Parveen and Rinchen Youdol, adding that such recognition motivates other youth to pursue sports as a profession. He assured full support from the Administration to help players participate in national and international events.
Guest of Honour Abdul Hadi, Hon’ble Councillor LAHDC Kargil, also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the initiative of the Association for providing a platform to budding players and promoting sports culture in the district.
On behalf of the organizers, Zakir Hussain, General Secretary of the Kargil Badminton Association, expressed gratitude, saying:
"On behalf of the Association, I extend heartfelt gratitude to DC Kargil Shri Rakesh Kumar, the Executive PWD, and the Department of Youth Services & Sports for their continuous support. Their encouragement has made it possible to successfully organize this championship in a professional manner. We remain committed to providing more opportunities and a better platform for the budding players of Kargil."
